He discovers that the baby discharges electricity when it cries, and is soon approached by a demon who reveals that the child is the son of the Devil, sent to earth to find the most evil human to raise him.

This, of course, is Tatsumi, and he is tasked with caring for and protecting the Devil’s child with the assistance of a demon maid called Hildegard.

With constant trouble at school and a new baby to raise, Tatsumi has to deal with the responsibilities thrust upon him along with the new demonic powers he has gained.

Sinbad must journey through the Dungeon to reach the Djinns, who are ancient beings capable of granting incredible power and will crown the king of the entire world.

Zankyou no Terror (Terror in Resonance) – Nine and Twelve

After a terrorist attack on a nuclear power station in Tokyo, police are left with a video of two masked teenagers who identify themselves only as Sphinx.

These two boys are Nine and Twelve, the subjects of terrible government experiments who seek to expose the government for their crimes and wreak vengeance against those who wronged them.

As Kenjirou Shibazaki, a disgraced detective, tries to unravel the clues and riddles left by Sphinx, Nine and Twelve always seem to be one step ahead.

While the two teenagers continue to attack Tokyo and reveal their tragic past, Shibazaki has to try and find out their true identity and stop them from destroying the entire city.

But with Sphinx’s elaborate plans and unknown capabilities, there’s no telling whether they can be stopped. And as more and more of their past is revealed, the question arises: who is the villain in this game?

Inaho is drawn into the war against the Vers Empire’s forces, where he must put his incredible tactical skills and highly advanced technology to use against the Martians and the terrorist group who made the attempt on the princess’ life.

Kiyotaka Ayanokoji has started his first semester at Koudo Ikusei Senior High, where he is placed into Class 1-D – a low-performing class known for having the school’s worst students.

After a month at the school, it’s revealed that the point allowance is actually based on classes’ performance; as the worst class in the school, Class 1-D is left with the minimum amount of points.

Kiyotaka is left struggling to improve his grades along with the rest of the class to try and earn enough points to continue living the life of luxury he briefly held.

Not only will Kiyotaka have to get his own grades up to par, but he will also need to whip his classmates into shape to have a shot at getting their points back.

What Tatsuya lacks in magical skill, he makes up for in technical know-how and combat capabilities. To try and reach the level of Bloom, he must put these skills to use and develop his magical abilities to become the high-performing student he longs to be.

In addition to his eccentric behavior, Glenn also seems to be lazy and completely unskilled at the magic he teaches. But unbeknownst to his students, Glenn is actually a former assassin who is concealing his incredible magic abilities.

When the school is attacked by their former teacher, Glenn comes to the rescue and saves his students. Sistine and Rumia see that Glenn has a lot more power than it seems, and the class and teacher must learn from each other to reach their full potential.

Honorary Mentions

There are many great animes with overpowered main characters, and far too many to cover in a single list. Here are a few honorable mentions that we weren’t able to fit in the top 10.

Hellsing Ultimate – Alucard

Hellsing Ultimate follows a supernatural war between the Hellsing Organization and the vampires, ghouls, and magically altered threats that aim to destroy England and the world at large.

Alucard, who in a past life was also known as Count Dracula, is an immensely powerful vampire and the Hellsing Organization’s secret weapon against the supernatural forces working against them.

While Alucard’s role is more that of an anti-hero than a protagonist, he is shown to be more than a match against all the dark forces that threaten his home.

Dragon Ball – Goku

While Goku has faced his fair share of defeat (and even temporary death) throughout the many iterations and offshoots of the Dragon Ball series, there seems to be no opponent who can truly be a match for our favorite Saiyan.

While every new series and saga brings new, even stronger threats, the original Dragon Ball series is a nostalgic adventure that shows just how strong Goku is, and has the potential to become.

One-Punch Man – Saitama

Given that his gimmick is being able to defeat any opponent in a single punch, it’s a no-brainer that Saitama of One-Punch Man is an overpowered protagonist. In fact, despite living in a world where monsters and supervillains are everywhere, Saitama has yet to ever be defeated in a 1v1 fight.

That said, this superhero anime is anything but repetitive, and One-Punch Man takes a remarkably fresh and introspective approach to having an OP main character that keeps this iconic anime from ever getting boring.
