The Uzumaki clan! The Kardashians of the Naruto world, well we can debate that later! Our main guy, Naruto, is from this awesome family line. But, for the newbies here, who are the Uzumakis?
The Uzumaki clan were formerly a dominant clan in Uzushiogakure, traits of this clan are having bright red hair, massive amounts of chakra reserves, and they have stronger life forces than most others Shinobi.
The Uzumaki clan are also known for their ability in fūinjutsi. Between the Second and Third Shinobi War, the Uzumaki clan has disbanded and a majority of their members resided in Konohagakure.
Despite the lack of numbers, the clan never went extinct, but at the end of the show, the clan is active once again. Read on for the 11 members of the Uzumaki Clan that you should know about!
Mito Uzumaki
Starting my list with Mito Uzumaki! The first Jinchuriki of the nine-tailed fox. Mito migrated to Konoha at a young age, where she eventually married the first Hokage, Hashirama Senju.
After Hashirama battle with Madara Uchiha at the valley of the end, Hashirama obtained the nine-tailed fox from Madara. Mito offered to seal the nine-tailed fox within her self to protect the village from him.
Thus becoming the first Jinchuriki. Mito ended up being the host of the nine-tailed fox for years, and eventually passed the burden onto Kushina, not without giving her some heartfelt grandmotherly advice!
Not much is known about Mito’s strength, she is considered to be skilled in fūinjutsu as she was the one of the first one to seal the beast. She also had a super long life as she lived through three different Hokages.
Mito was also intelligent even to realize that the only to counter Kurama’s ability to overwhelm his jinchuriki’s with hate, was with love.
Karin
Karin, you either love her or you hate her. When we are first introduced to her, she is another Sasuke fangirl. As a devoted worker for Orochimaru and a loyal member of Team Taki / Hebi.
As a youth, Karin originally was from Kusagakure, due to her special chakra type, her ability to both sense and heal, Orchimaru took interest in her and began to experiment her.
Unlike his other experiments, Karin remained loyal to Orochimaru, and continued to work for him. Karin is a very talented tracker, and due to her unusual chakra type (this is common in Uzumakis).
Karin is also rather intelligent and has been shown to outwit her enemies. Karin also has the ability to heal by biting her, this has caused her whole body to be covered in bite marks.
Nagato
Yes, Nagato was Uzumaki, well a decedent. As the founder of the Akatsuki, Nagato story was one of the most heart-wrenching moments in Naruto.
After the tragedy of the Second Shinobi War, Nagato lost his parents, Nagato formed a make-shift family, with Jiraya, Yahiko and Konan, unfortunately he also lost Yahiko, his best friend. . Nagato was one of the first people who were introduced that possessed the Rinnegan, as a response to losing his parents.
Nagato’s goals were to gain true peace in the Shinobi world. However, after the lost of a close friend, he went down a violent path until he was talk-no jutsu’ed by our favorite hero, Naruto.
Nagato is one of the strongest members of the Uzumaki clan, as Pain, he was able to crush Konoha and their most powerful Shinobi.
Nagato after being revived from the edo no tensi, was a still a massive threat to the allied Shinobi forces, taking two fulling trained jinchurikis to take him down.
Ashina Uzumaki
The OG Uzumaki! Ashina was the clan leader of the Uzumakis, when Kohona was formed after the First Shinobi War.
Like all members of Uzumaki clan, Ashina was skilled in fūinjutsu, it is theorized that he is the founding father of fūinjutsu.
Ashina was also continuously seen with two swords on his back, so it was assumed that was he was skilled in kenjutsu. Also, due to his Uzumaki inheritance he lives a rather long life, was still an active Shinobi well into his sixes!
Fuso
Now, Fuso is not a prominent character in the show, so let me jog your memory. Fuso Uzumaki is Nagato’s mother and does make a short appearance in the show. She lived Amegakure along with her husband and son.
She was murdered by Konoha Shinobi, who mistook them for enemies.
Fuso was a nurse who was dedicated to helping and providing humanitarian aid. It was the death of her and her husband which awoke Nagato’s Rinnegan.
Tsunade
Yes! Tsunade is technically a member of the Uzumaki clan. Being the granddaughter of Hashirama Senju and Mito Uzumaki. Tsunade was the fifth and the first female Hokage.
A medical ninjutsu genius and a third of the legendary sannin. Tsunade was one of the main reasons Konoha did so well in both the First and Second Shinobi War.
After losing her young brother and her lover, Tsunade rewrote the whole medical protocol, which resulted in fewer deaths.
Throughout the show she is shown to be a fanatic teacher as she mentored the likes of Sakura, Shizune and Ino. Being both strong and determined, Tsunade was a legend, even before the show started.
Kushina Uzumaki
Let’s be honest, we all cried our little eyes out when Naruto meet Kushina for the first time.
It left a warm, fuzzy feeling in my heart. Kushina originally moved to Konoha when she was young, due to the fact that she was selected to be the next jinchuriki of the nine-tailed fox.
As a youth, she was super headstrong and a very fierce fighter. Like all members of the Uzumaki clan, Kushina possessed a strong life force and high chakra levels.
Kushina also was talented in the art of Fuinjutsu and taught Minato Namikaze all he knew.
Kushina’s specialty was the ability to materialize ‘Adamantine Sealing Chains’ these chains were strong enough to hold the nine-tailed fox down, this was the reason she was selected as the next jinchuriki.
Like her son and grandson, Kushina had a verbal tic that she ends every sentence with ‘you know’. You know?
Himawari Uzumaki
This little cutie, she is Naruto Uzumaki and Hinata Hyuga youngest kid. Being from both the Uzumaki clan and the Hyuga clan, she is one of the few Shinobi to utilize both of the clan’s abilities.
Himawari was able to awaken the Byakugan after her brother, Boruto, ripped her favorite toy. Despite her kind and compassionate nature, she is quite powerful, she was able to knock out Naruto with hardly any training.
Not much is known about Himawari potential, due to the fact that she is still in the Academy. It’s worth noting that she is one of the few Shinobi that Kurama had shown outward fear for.
Boruto Uzumaki
I will refrain for any comments on the naming of this child, it has been done enough. Boruto Uzumaki is the firstborn of Naruto Uzumaki and Hinata Hyuga. Boruto lacks the same loveable idiot vibe that Naruto had.
He is however determined and motivated. Despite being a clone (not a shadow clone) of his father, Boruto actually has natural talent, he was able to breeze through the academy.
Boruto also had a natural talent in wind, lightning, and water release. He has recently been shown to possess a dojutsu called ‘Jougan’ and we will learn more about it as the show progresses.
Despite the similarity in names, Boruto differs from his father in goals, attitudes, and general life perspective. Despite the long trail of Uzumakis declaring themselves as Hokages one day.
Both Naruto and Kushina boldly declared their passion as youths. Boruto is different from his family, he wishes to be the hokages support system, like his mentor, Sasuke.
Hinata Hyuga
Well she married into the clan did she not? Hey, if Sakura can walk around with the Uchiha symbol on her back, I can put Hinata on this list. Originally born as the heiress of the Hyuga clan, Hinata was considered too meek and weak for the clan heiress.
She was inspired by Naruto and his ninja way, his drive to never give up is what motivated Hinata into trying harder to become a ninja her family respected. Over time, her admiration for Naruto turned into genuine love.
Naruto Uzumaki
Last but certainly not least, everyone favorite hyperactive, knucklehead ninja, we all know Naruto’s story from a nobody to a somebody.
The tale of Naruto Uzumaki had spun into a Manga, three separate TV shows, over ten feature films and countless games and merchandise. It was our childhood!
